Accessibility

The platform is designed to make spatial and visual knowledge available through more than one mode.

Keyboard navigation

Primary navigation, filters, search results, map markers, record links, expandable article guides, and image controls are keyboard accessible. Dialogs can be closed with Escape.

Visual presentation

The interface uses visible focus states, restrained motion, high-contrast text, responsive typography, and layouts that adapt to smaller screens. Reduced-motion preferences disable non-essential animation.

Images and scientific information

Documentary images include descriptive alternative text. Scientific names are italicized visually while remaining ordinary readable text for assistive technology. Unverified species are labelled as identification pending.

Atlas alternative

The interactive Atlas is accompanied by a complete semantic list of the same public records, so spatial content remains navigable without operating the map.
